At the beginning of every year, we take our new hires on a whirlwind trip around the world to visit our global offices, get to know each other, and learn the IMC ropes before they begin their careers with us. We caught up with some of this year’s new starters to find out what they’ve loved about their international traineeship. This week, the trainees explain the best things about meeting their colleagues for the first time.
Meeting new people
The traineeship is the first time our new hires get to meet their colleagues from around the world. Marco, a technologist based in Amsterdam, said his highlight was “building links with co-workers worldwide.”
We have a rich and diverse culture at IMC, and the way we approach our work is highly collaborative, especially between traders and technologists. The traineeship is an important time for our new hires as they get to know one another socially, and meet the people already working across our global offices. As Michael, a technologist from Sydney, put it: “Once you share a pint with someone, all barriers are gone.”
There are many opportunities to learn from each other by sharing ideas, insights and perspectives from our own experiences. In the next post from the traineeship, read about what it’s like to learn to work in a new way at IMC.
