What we do

IMC is a Systematic Internaliser (SI) in Shares (SHRS) as referred to in Article 4(1) (44)(a) of Directive 2014/65/EU, and ETFs (ETFS) as defined in Article 4(1) (46) of Directive 2014/65/EU. Since 2018 we are operating our own Electronic Liquidity Providing (ELP) Systematic Internaliser platform where we offer liquidity to counterparties that we do not show on any other platform. This unique liquidity comes from natural positions we hold on our central risk book.

The term Systematic Internaliser was introduced with MiFID regulations, and refers to an investment firm which, on an organised, frequent and systematic basis, deals on its own account by executing counterparty orders outside trading venues. An ELP SI platform is the platform that counterparties can electronically connect to, and request quotes on the instruments the SI is trading.

All professional market participants can trade directly with IMC via our ELP SI platform. We provide counterparties access to our ELP through a FIX gateway. If you access the market via a bank or broker, ask them to be opted into ELP SI liquidity and check if they are already connected to our SI platform. Please contact us if you have any questions about how to access our liquidity.

IMC has 30 years’ experience in market making and uses that knowledge and advanced technology to trade multiple asset classes on multiple trading venues. Having a significant business in futures, ETFs and options, we are able to hold many positions in our central risk book. We offer these positions via our ELP SI platform.

A list of instruments that IMC is registered to trade as an SI can be found here . This list will be updated on a regular basis as more instruments are added.

The latest RTS 27 reports can be found here.

Our Market Identifier Code is IMCT.

We provide counterparties access to our ELP SI platform through a FIX gateway. Our ELP SI platform is currently located in the London IBX data center. Users perform conformance testing and connect to IMC via the FIX protocol (4.2). The technical specification detailing the connection protocol can be found here. Further information on connectivity is provided during the on-boarding process for new counterparties.
