GIVING BACK

IMC India philanthropy

IMC India Giving is our commitment to create change at every level: at scale, with heart, and through action. Our philanthropy focuses on expanding opportunities, strengthening communities and supporting people to realise their potential through education, women’s empowerment, health, inclusion, arts and livelihoods. Rooted in India’s realities and connected to IMC’s global culture of giving back, our work is designed to be thoughtful, practical and lasting.

Who we are

IMC India Giving is building the India chapter of IMC’s global philanthropic network. We bring together strategic giving, trusted partnerships and employee participation to support communities where the need is significant and the potential for change is real.

Our work includes multi-year programmes that address structural barriers, especially in education and women’s empowerment, alongside community-rooted initiatives that respond to local needs with dignity and care. We partner with organisations that bring deep expertise, strong community relationships, and a shared commitment to measurable impact.

Our Giving timeline

IMC India partners with Sesame Workshop India Trust and the Government of Rajasthan to strengthen early childhood education in a region facing some of the most significant educational challenges in the state. The three-year initiative supports more than 8,000 children through play-based learning and early literacy and provides training for 500 early childhood care and community health workers.

IMC supports 23 non-profits working across 15 Indian states in the areas of education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, human rights, water security, and sanitation.

IMC India begins its collaboration with the first locally founded non-profit organisation, Cuddles Foundation, which helps children fight cancer through access to holistic nutrition.

IMC India proudly supports Room to Read’s Literacy and Girls' Education Program across 10 states in India.

OUR GIVING STRATEGY

IMC India’s philanthropy strategy is guided by five core principles:

1. Relevant to the national and local context

Our giving is shaped by India’s development priorities and the lived realities of local communities, ensuring that every initiative responds to real needs and creates meaningful impact.

2. Strategic and built to last

We support long-term initiatives that address structural barriers, especially in education and women’s empowerment, with a focus on sustainable outcomes that can continue beyond IMC’s direct involvement.

3. Based on trust and partnership

We work with credible local and international partners who bring deep expertise, strong community relationships and a shared commitment to measurable, lasting change.

4. COMMUNITY-ROOTED

Our initiatives are grounded in the needs, voices and experiences of the communities we serve, with a focus on dignity, inclusion and practical local impact.

5. ENGAGING AND ACTION-ORIENTED

We create opportunities for IMCers to contribute through volunteering, giving, awareness-building and direct engagement with partners, strengthening a culture of empathy, ownership and shared responsibility.

Before joining IMC, she worked with Community Design Agency on Under One Sky / Ek Aasman Tale, gaining hands-on experience in community coordination and on-the-ground project support. At IMC India, Sana coordinates NGO and employee engagement, ensuring each initiative is delivered thoughtfully and effectively. She is excited to grow in philanthropy and social impact while helping employees connect with meaningful ways to give back. Outside work, Sana enjoys travelling and exploring new places.

Maximising employee engagement

At IMC India, giving back is an active part of our culture. We create opportunities for colleagues to engage with community initiatives through volunteering, giving, awareness-building, partner events, and hands-on participation.

Employees are encouraged to learn directly from our partners and the communities they support, gaining first-hand insight into the challenges being addressed and the impact being created. These experiences help build deeper relationships, broaden perspective, and strengthen a shared sense of responsibility.

By making giving participatory and close to the ground, IMC India offers colleagues the opportunity to pursue ambitious professional work while also contributing to something larger than themselves.
