Mumbai

We're seeking a Corporate Development Manager to help build and scale IMC's external engagement function in India. In this role, you will be responsible for managing relationships with exchanges, regulators, brokers, and industry associations, while providing market intelligence that supports IMC's growth in one of the world's largest and fastest-evolving capital markets.

The Corporate Development team plays a key role in supporting IMC's expansion in India, covering all aspects of external engagement, market intelligence, regulatory monitoring, and project management. As part of a small, high-impact team in Mumbai, you will work closely with IMC's India leadership and trading desks to ensure IMC is well-positioned in the Indian market. The working environment is collaborative, non-hierarchical, and fast-paced. You will manage a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, and your initiative, judgment, and ability to build trusted relationships will directly contribute to IMC's success in India.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain excellent relationships with exchanges, regulators, brokers, custodians, industry associations, and other market participants through regular meetings and proactive engagement
  • Proactively gather market intelligence relating to regulatory developments, market participants activity, and market structure changes
  • Assess implications for IMC of SEBI circulars, exchange notifications, and RBI announcements and coordinate with stakeholders accordingly
  • Support the preparation and submission of responses to SEBI consultation papers, ensuring alignment with IMC's global advocacy positions
  • Manage the execution of business development and regulatory initiatives, including new market access, exchange product onboarding, and compliance workstreams. Keep key internal stakeholders informed on priorities and status
  • Attend relevant industry conferences and events (FIA, ASIFMA, ANMI, BBF) to build IMC's network and identify engagement opportunities
  • Invest in relationships proactively. Be a good partner to counterparts and build IMC's reputation as a constructive, long-term market participant

Your Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in Indian financial markets, specifically in one or more of the following: business development at an exchange (NSE, BSE, MCX), institutional/FPI brokerage (exchange relations or operations), or financial markets regulatory consulting
  • Direct working experience with NSE and/or BSE in a professional capacity (as an exchange employee or broker exchange relations manager)
  • Strong working knowledge of proprietary trading firms and HFT/market-making firms: must already know the relevant issues, have the judgment to assess what is and is not relevant to HFTs, and understand the role of liquidity providers in the market ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of the Indian capital markets regulatory framework: SEBI Act, Stock Broker Regulations, FPI regulations, margin/clearing requirements, and the SEBI algo trading framework
  • Working knowledge of how SEBI decision-making works: the hierarchy from government to SEBI to exchanges, the role of Advisory Committees and Working Groups, and the consultation paper process
  • Demonstrated track record of managing external relationships with financial market infrastructure (exchanges or regulators) in India
  • Strong written and verbal communication: professional, well-organized, and with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and strategic thinking: proactive, knows what they don't know, and has the energy to figure things out. Strong problem-solving ability. Not someone who waits for direction
  • Is able to establish strong rapport and represent IMC credibly in meetings with exchange officials, broker relationship managers, and industry association representatives. Strong personal values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior employment at NSE (business development, member services, or regulatory departments) or at a large institutional broker's exchange relations team
  • Exposure to the HFT/algorithmic trading segment of the Indian market: understanding of colocation, algo registration, surveillance processes, and how exchanges interact with proprietary trading firms
  • Familiarity with Indian industry associations: ANMI, BBF, CPAI, FIA, ASIFMA. Prior attendance at or participation in SEBI working groups or consultation processes is highly valued
  • Exposure to commodity markets (MCX) in addition to equity markets
  • Existing professional network with FPI brokers, exchange technology teams, or regulatory officials
