IMC Sydney hosts iconic children’s TV stars for UNICEF event

“Get ready to Wiggle!” IMC Sydney hosts iconic children’s TV stars for UNICEF event
Trading in global markets means that no two days are ever identical, so at IMC, we’re pretty good at expecting the unexpected. But even so, we didn’t imagine hosting UNICEF Australia Ambassadors The Wiggles for a special performance and Q&A in our Sydney office – celebrating our shared connection to UNICEF’s vital humanitarian work.
“It’s safe to say I didn’t anticipate hosting The Wiggles when I first joined IMC,” our Managing Director, Head of APAC, Matt Benney said as he greeted staff and their families. “And while I’ve learned a lot since I started at IMC more than 15 years ago, I’m still not sure how Lachy managed to build a successful career around taking naps!”
To get everyone warmed up, The Wiggles treated IMC employees and their families to a private performance — a moment of colour, nostalgia, and plenty of dancing. The music group then stayed for a Q&A with our colleagues, reflecting on their recent UNICEF field visit to Timor-Leste with UNICEF Australia. This was an excellent way to end the day, providing all IMC-ers in attendance with a glimpse of our growing partnership with UNICEF. The event also served as a reminder of the global impact made possible through our collective efforts.
Marking five years of partnership with UNICEF
Over the past five years, the IMC Foundation has provided funding to UNICEF in support of its mission to protect the rights of children in vulnerable communities across the globe. In 2025 alone, our foundation contributed $715,000 to UNICEF, supporting children in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Since the beginning of our partnership in 2020, the IMC Foundation has donated a total of $3.8 million, helping to fund emergency responses and long-term child protection programs around the world.
During the past year, our funding has enabled UNICEF to respond to crises in Sudan, Gaza, and Myanmar by providing children with clean water, food, medical care, and protection. We’ve also supported long-term initiatives in Timor-Leste, such as providing training for social workers and strengthening community-based child protection services. These efforts will endure long after any single crisis.
Back in 2024, The Wiggles travelled with UNICEF Australia to Timor-Leste to visit several programs focused on education and ensuring that every child grows up healthy. Many of these programs are partially funded by the IMC Foundation. While there, they met girls participating in empowerment initiatives, spoke with families and community leaders, and witnessed firsthand how sustained, system-focused investments can transform children’s futures.
“The Wiggles are storytellers,” Matt said. “They help bring UNICEF’s purpose to life in a way that children — and adults — can connect with. That’s what made it so special for me and our IMC Sydney colleagues to hear directly from them during our live Q&A.”
Why UNICEF?
Alongside The Wiggles, UNICEF Australia CEO Tony Stuart also joined the event in Sydney. He helped to explain UNICEF’s approach to global development and why partnerships with firms like IMC really matter.
“UNICEF focuses on strengthening the foundations that keep children healthy, educated, and protected — not just in moments of crisis, but for generations,” Tony said. “Because of our global scale, partnerships, and commitment to transparency, we can efficiently deliver sustainable impact. That’s why collaborations with companies like IMC are so important to the work we do.”
For IMC, this approach aligns well with our core values of taking responsibility for others and building for the future. We support UNICEF because its model is effective, future-focused, and grounded in accountability — principles that echo how we operate as a firm. UNICEF’s global reach ensures resources go where they are most needed, while its independent auditing and transparent reporting offer confidence that every dollar contributes to meaningful, measurable impact. Together, we’re helping to build safer and stronger environments for children.
