Tour de IMC: Cycling in support of species under threat

Get ready to ride! This March, IMCers will push their limits on the bike—all to protect species under threat through vital conservation efforts.

Tour de IMC: Cycling in support of species under threat

This March, IMC is hosting its first-ever global cycling fundraiser, uniting its 1,600+ colleagues in support of environmental and conservation projects to protect species under threat and the habitats they live in.

Each IMC office is sponsoring one of the most vulnerable species in their region:

🦬🌿 IMC Chicago: Bison in the Northern Great Plains

🐆🏔️ IMC Mumbai: Snow leopards in the high-altitude Himalayas

🐋🌊 IMC Amsterdam and IMC Sydney: Whales in Blue Corridors

A global ride for a global cause

Tour de IMC started in Sydney in 2019, where its popularity saw it quickly become established as an annual affair. In 2024, 75 APAC-based colleagues took part, raising over AUD 30K for charity.

“Tour de IMC has been such a success in APAC because it’s so simple — just find a team, jump on a stationary bike, and every kilometre you pedal raises money for charity!” said APAC Head of Compliance Kieran David.

This year, the campaign is going global. In teams of three, IMCers will compete on state-of-the-art smart bikes, racing to cover the greatest distance in just 20 minutes. It’s a test of strategy, performance and teamwork – tenets that lie at the heart of IMC’s culture.

For every kilometer cycled, the IMC Charitable Foundations will make a financial contribution to projects protecting each animal.

“I’m excited to see the challenge go global to harness IMC’s connectivity between all areas of the world for a good cause and help marine life,” said Graduate Trader Terry Wang.

Why conservation? Why now?

At IMC, we believe that businesses should contribute to a better society. Since the 1990s, IMC has been a pioneer in corporate social responsibility (CSR), and we were among the first in our industry to donate a meaningful percentage of our profits.

Through our Roadmap to Net Zero and broader ESG commitments, we’re taking steps toward creating a fairer and more sustainable world.

“This year, Tour de IMC is raising funds for WWF in Australia, India, the Netherlands, and the United States. Funds raised will go toward conservation projects that protect species under threat and the habitats they depend on. From grasslands to mountain ranges and ocean corridors, these initiatives play a critical role in preserving biodiversity and ensuring a sustainable future,” said APAC Charity Manager Jess Mony.
