Trading for charity
On Tuesday, July, 16 2024, IMC hosted its annual Trading and Gaming Day for Charity, donating $6,000,000 in support of Room to Read’s literacy program in South Africa, Tanzania, and India.
Massive thanks to IMC employees and Team Liquid talent, who put their advanced trading and gaming skills to the test over an epic 24 hours to help Room to Read train teachers, build libraries, creates classroom materials, and publish high-quality, local language children’s books.
In 2023, we renewed our partnership with Room to Read for an additional five years, with the commitment to donate $30 million in 2024-2028. With this next phase, we aim to provide books and other resources for nearly 5.7 million more children in Africa and India by 2028 and support lasting improvements in education systems in the developing regions where Room to Read works.

The impact in Africa and India
IMC has proudly supported Room to Read’s mission to end illiteracy across the globe for the past 8 years, donating more than $33M so far to literacy programs in South Africa, Tanzania, and India.
Our contributions have helped:
- train 23,700 teachers and librarians
- distribute 1.9 million books
- support 6,000 schools
- benefit 3.2 million children
School visit
In 2023, IMC traders, developers and support staff visited schools in India, South Africa and Tanzania that are supported by Room to Read. Colleagues met with children, parents, teachers and government representatives, to learn first-hand how our commitments are helping shape the educational experiences of children living in high-need areas.
